Outreach & Collaborations

Outreach rap, songwriting, recording and music video workshops with schools, youth and community organisations.

Misneach

A project exploring female empowerment, where a group of 6 teen songwriters and performers created 3 songs and music videos at The Kabin Studio. Since this, the young people have gotten to perform at many events around Ireland and inspired the next generation of young performers at the Kabin.

The Spark

The Spark is a viral music video created by Kabin Crew featuring our friends from The Lisdoonvarna Crew and produced at The Kabin Studio. Written and performed by young people from Cork’s northside, the track blends humour, honesty, and energy. Since its release, it has gone worldwide with billions of views across social media, opening up opportunities for the young artists to perform at festivals across Ireland and abroad.

The Sound of the Northside

For ‘The Sound of the Northside’, the Kabin Crew worked with INO to add the element of theatre to their performance. This hour-long celebration of the Kabin Crew’s music saw the group perform alongside the INO Orchestra, conducted by Medb Brereton Hurley, in specially tailored arrangements of the Crew’s music, arranged by Áine Delany. One Two One (Maud Lee and Zoe Ní Riordáin) directed the show, drawing on their experience of dramatizing their own music for theatre.

Throwing Shapes

A short documentary depicting the stories of 7 young Cork artists as they find creative ways to express themselves through Hip Hop.

The project has evolved from an experiment in creative writing into a play and now it has become a film. Navigating self expression, dealing with loss, having the craic, making beats and throwing shapes.

Christy

Christy is a powerful new feature film with deep ties to The Kabin Studio. Many of the young people involved in the film are regulars at the Kabin, and our music plays a central role throughout the story. The project also includes a brand new original music video created especially for the film. Christy premiered at the Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus International Jury .

Rhyme Island for Cruinniú na nÓg

Check out our music video playlist of tracks created during this initiative. Cruinniú na nÓg is the national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18 in Ireland.
